“The Professions of My Family” essay

I have a year growing. There will be seventeen. Who will work for me then? What to do? Vladimir Mayakovsky. Choosing a profession for me is not an easy task. After all, my grandfather and father have wonderful jobs in my family: my grandfather is an engineer, and my father serves in the police. Grandpa’s profession is very interesting! His job is to draw a drawing on which the house will be built, or a bridge, or a factory. For example, is it easy to build a bridge across the river? Of course, when the river is small, everyone can put a log through it – and the bridge is ready. And if the river is big, like the Moscow River or the Volga? Here logs will not help. The bridge will have to be built of metal or reinforced concrete. But how do you know how many supports should be at the bridge? How many cars and people can he withstand? Will not the bridge collapse, if a violent storm begins? Will the bearings of the bridge withstand the blows of the ice floes during the spring

ice drift? To answer these questions, it is necessary, as my grandfather, to know mathematics, physics, drawing and other technical sciences well. A person who has studied these sciences and who can use them to construct a reliable bridge or a building is called an engineer. Grandfather says that the engineer is almost a magician: he is a bit of an architect, a designer, he develops master plans of objects, which include roads, excavation, construction organization and much more! Therefore, Grandpa really likes his work. And I also love riddles, mysteries, I’m attracted to stories about Sherlock Holmes, so I admire the work of the pope. He’s a policeman. In his oath, there are words that the policeman should be honest, courageous, vigilant, to observe the laws of Russia, respect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen. I also want to be like dad, I want to help people, so choosing between the profession of grandfather and dad, I decided to go to the police. I will be an investigator and will definitely try to work so that my grandfather and dad are proud of me!
