Summary “The First Teacher” Aitmanova

The composition of the work is based on the story in the story. The initial and final chapters represent the artist’s reflections and memories, the middle is the story of the main character about his life. All narration is conducted from the first person: the first and last parts – on behalf of the narrator, the middle – on behalf of the academician.

The artist conceives a painting, but can not choose a theme for her yet. He recollects his childhood in the village of Kurkureu, which is in the Kazakh steppe. Before the eyes there is the main symbol of native places – two large poplars on the hill. This naked hill in the village is called the “Duishen School”. Once, there was no one in the Komsomol who wanted to organize a school there. Now one name remains.

The artist receives a telegram – an invitation to open a new school in the village. There he meets the pride of Kurkureu – Academician Altynay Sulaimanovna Sulaymanova.

After the solemn part, the director invites activists of the collective farm and academician to himself. From the former students they bring telegrams with congratulations: they were brought by Duyshen. Now he delivers mail. Sam Duishen does not go to the holiday: you must finish the work first.

Now many people with a grin remember his idea with the school: he, they say, himself did not know the whole alphabet. The old academician blushes at these words. She hurriedly, on the same day, to Moscow. Later she writes a letter to the artist and asks her to tell her story to people.

In 1924, a young Duishen appears in the village and wants to open a school. He himself is putting the shed on the hill in order.

The orphan Altynay lives in the family of an aunt, who is burdened by a girl. The child sees only insults and beatings. She begins to go to school. Affectionate attitude and a kind smile of Duyshen warms her soul.

At the lesson, the teacher shows the children a portrait of Lenin. For Duishen, Lenin is a symbol of the bright future of ordinary people. Altynai recalls that time: “I think now

about this and wonder: how this illiterate guy, who himself could hardly read by syllables, … how could he have ventured on such a truly great business.” Duishen had no idea about the program and methodology teaching… Himself without knowing it, he performed a feat… us, Kyrgyz children who have never been outside the ail, … suddenly opened… the world previously unseen… “

In the cold Duishen on his hands and on his back carried the children fording across the icy river. Rich people, passing at such moments past in fox malachi and sheepskins, contemptuously chuckled at him.

In the winter, on the night of the return of the teacher from the parish, where he went for three days every month, his aunt expels Altynai to distant relatives – the old Saikal and Kartanbai. At that time, Duishen lived.

In the middle of the night a “nasal, uterine howl” is heard. Wolf! And not alone. The old man Kartanbai realized that wolves were surrounded by someone – a man or a horse. At that moment, Duishen appears in the doorway. Altynai cries behind the stove with happiness, that the teacher came back alive.

In the spring, the teacher, together with Altynai, plant two “young sizostvolnye poplars” on the hillock. Duishen believes that the future of the girl is in teaching, and wants to send her to the city. Altynai admires him with admiration: “A new, unfamiliar feeling from another world unknown to me rose in my chest with a hot wave.”

Soon the school is an aunt with a red-faced man who recently appeared in their house. Red-necked and two more riders beat Duishen, who defended the girl, and Altynai was taken by force. My aunt gave her to his second wife. At night, the red-necked raped Altynai. In the morning before the yurt appears bandaged Dyshen with militiamen, and the rapist is arrested.

Two days later, Dyushen takes Altynai to the station – she will study at the Tashkent boarding school. Already the departing train the teacher, with full eyes of tears, screams “Altynai!”, As if he forgot to say something important.

In the city, Altynai studies at the rabfak, then in Moscow at the institute. In the letter, she confesses to Dyushen that she loves him and waits. This ends their correspondence: “I think that he denied me and myself because he did not want to stop me from studying.”

The war begins. Altynai learns that Duishen joined the army. More about him there is no news.

After the war she travels by train in Siberia. In the window, Altynai sees Duishen at the switch and rips off the stop-cock. But the woman made herself known. People from the train think that the husband or brother who died in the war, and Altynai sympathize with her, saw it.

Years pass by. Altynai marries a good man: “We have children, a family, we live in harmony, I am now a doctor of philosophical sciences.”

She writes to the artist about what happened in the village: “… I did not have to give all the honors, I did not need to sit in a place of honor at the opening of a new school.” This right was first of all our first teacher… – Old Duyshen… I want to go to Kurkureu and suggest there people to name the new boarding school “Duishen School”. “

Impressed by the history of Altynai, the artist thinks over the picture not yet written: “… my contemporaries, how to make my plan not just reach you, but become our common creation?” He chooses which of the episodes narrated by the academician to depict on his canvas.

The work is arranged in such a way that we get acquainted with the story from the words of several storytellers who are the main characters. The narration from the first person is conducted first by the artist, and then by the academician, whose story is also completed by the first character.

The story begins with how the artist, in search of inspiration for his painting, plunges into memories of the past. He spent his childhood in the Kazakh steppe, because these places became native. Before the eyes immediately there is a symbol of those places, which are two poplars on a low hillock. He is also called the “school of Duishen”, since for some time someone wanted to establish a school there, but only the name remains.

Having received the telegram, the artist learns that he is invited to open a new school in the village. At the event, he meets Academician Altynay Sulaimanov. At the end of the solemn part of the opening, everyone is invited to the director. Duyshen brings greeting cards and telegrams from former students, but he does not stay long and goes on to work, as he settled himself as a postman. His idea, regarding the foundation of the school, many remember with a smile, because he himself, they say, did not know the whole alphabet. When the present began to joke, the elderly female academician blushes, the same day she leaves back to the capital. A few days later the artist comes from her letter with a history of life.

As early as 1924, young Duishen appeared in the village in order to open a school. He himself tries to refine the shed that stood on the hill. Altynay is an orphan, she lives with relatives who treat her very cruelly, insult her, and sometimes even beat a girl. But then she begins to go to school, and as a ray of light in her life becomes Duishen, who is trying to help in everything. Now she only remembers how this illiterate boy showed the children a portrait of Lenin and spoke of him as a symbol of a bright future for all ordinary people. When winter came. Duishen helped children to move through the ford and the ice river.

One day my aunt drove Altynai to distant relatives who brought up Duishen. On this night, an accident occurs. Outside the window there was a wolf howling and not alone. Everyone decided that the pack surrounded someone, but at that moment Duishen entered the door, alive and unharmed, to which the family was very happy.

In that very year Altynai, along with his teacher, planted two poplars on the bald mountain. Dyschen tells the girl that her future is behind the teachings and wants to make every effort to send Altynai to the city.

Another misfortune happens when a girl comes to school with her aunt with some man. It turns out that the relative sold Altynai to second wives. The teacher tries to protect the child, but he is elected and the girl is taken away by a tall man. On the night of her raping, but in the morning Duishen comes with a policeman who arrests the criminal.

The teacher decides to take everything into his own hands and carries Altynai to the Tashkent boarding school. After graduating from the rabfak, the girl goes to the institute in Moscow. She writes a letter to a former teacher, in which she confesses her love and invites her to come to her, but he refuses. Altynay decides that the teacher wanted her to finish her studies well and she did not interfere.

After the outbreak of the war, the girl learns that Duishen has gone to the front, and from him there are no more news. But years later, after the war, when Altynai goes on a train, crossing Siberia, she notices in the window of Duyshen and breaks the stop-cock. But all in vain, the woman has indicated herself. After years she marries and finds a family. Having finished reading the letter, the artist is struck by the history and chooses which episode to depict on the canvas.
