The Mysterious Island

First, with the help of the simplest improvised means, then producing more and more complex objects of labor and everyday life in their own small factories, the settlers settle their lives. They hunt, collect edible plants, oysters, then even bred domestic animals and engaged in farming. They settle a dwelling high in a rock, in a cave liberated from water. Soon, thanks to their diligence and intelligence, the colonists no longer know the need for food, neither in clothes, nor in warmth and comfort. They have everything except the news of their homeland, of whose fate they are very worried.
Once, when they return to their dwelling, which they called the Granite Palace, they see that the monkeys are in charge. After a while, as if under the influence of insane fear, monkeys jump out of the windows, and
someone’s hand throws the rope ladder that the monkeys lifted into the house. Inside, people find another monkey – an orangutan, which is left at home and is called Uncle Jupe. In the future, Jupe becomes a friend, a servant and an indispensable assistant.
The next day the settlers find a box on the sand with tools, firearms, various appliances, clothes, kitchen utensils and books in English. Settlers wondered where this box could come from. On the map, also found in a box, they discover that next to their island, on a map not marked, is the island of Tabor. Sailor Pencroft is eager to go to him. With the help of his friends, he builds a bot. When the bot is ready, all together go on it in a test voyage around the island. During it, they find a bottle with a note where it says that the shipwrecked man is waiting for salvation on the island of Tábor. This event strengthens Pencroff’s confidence in the need to visit the neighboring island. Pencroff, journalist Gideon Spilett and Herbert go sailing. When the boat was returning from the island of Tabor in the middle of the night, he was rescued by a fire, which, they thought, swam on it, was kindled by their friends. He dies, the settlers batten up the hatches of the boat and lower it under the water, and they themselves tirelessly build a new ship all day. However, they do not have time to finish it. All living things die during the explosion of the island, from which there is only a small reef in the ocean. Settlers, spending the night in a tent on the shore, throws the air wave into the sea. All of them, after Jupe’s death, remain alive. More than ten days they sit on the reef, almost dying of hunger and already hoping for nothing. Suddenly they see a ship. This is Duncan.
