Ivan Denisovich, his friends and foes
It’s hard to imagine that a year ago we did not know the name of Solzhenitsyn. The mediocrity has to the complacency of evaluations, but the one who struck us at the first appearance, can not expect indulgence. The story “One day of Ivan Denisovich” is the standard of Solzhenitsyn’s work of the artist. This is a rare case in literature, when the publication of a work of art became a socio-political event. NS Khrushchev gave a high assessment of this story. The very fact of the appearance of the story was perceived by people as confirmation of the will of the party to put an end to arbitrariness forever. Others considered Solzhenitsyn – Ivan Denisovich one person. Solzhenitsyn does so that we see and learn the life of the prisoner not from the outside, but from within, “from him.” That the day for the hero was “almost happy,” the author says seriously. In the story,

the time of action – January 1951 is precisely designated. There are two ways of criticism: normative (the critic is ready to understand everything before the acquaintance with the work, the critic imposes ready-made measures), analytical (the approach to the work as a reflection of living life). The attitude of criticism to the story is not simple.
In the camp Solzhenitsyn was interested not only in the camp – he was interested in people and the era. The hero of the story is an “ordinary” person and the appearance of such a hero is evidence of the democratization of literature after the 20th party congress. Extra rations are the first condition of inner self-sufficiency. In Ivan Denisovich, the hands of the working man, and the eyes of the master, the master’s manner, he takes care of the instrument. This is not only a peasant lean intelligence, but also the pride of the working man who has a creative beginning. SHUKHOV WOULD NOT LIKE TO PICK THE ITS BUT ONE. After Shukhov, the brigade is the second main character in the story. She is like one big family. In Ivan Denisovich with his people’s
attitude towards people and work, a life-affirming power is laid that leaves no room for emptiness and unbelief. So, on the one hand – “ordinary people”, on the other hand ” “The attitude of Shukhov to idiots, just like his bewilderment at the light trade of the dyers, is based on the people’s attitude towards the work and moral duty of the people working together in front of each other.” There were different camps, different people were sitting in them, and The moron is an intelligent prisoner, who was fooled by the boss, but how hard is it? Ivan Denisovich’s attitude towards people is people’s, regardless of whether these people belong to the “people” or to the “intelligentsia.” Solzhenitsyn the covenants of Russian literature of the last century-the Nekrasov and Shchedrin, Tolstoy and Chekhov nationalities-are close, but his view of the people is the view of the Soviet writer. The popular attitude toward work is opposed by the petty-bourgeois desire to live more easily, but philistinism is always recognized.
