Alka
Leto. The last time the main heroine of Alya Amosova was in her native village of Letovka last year, at her mother’s funeral. Therefore, he wants to know as much as possible about the news from his aunt Anisya and Mani, who came to visit. They tell her about the main thing – the construction of a new club and the marriage of Alka’s girlfriend.
Alya a couple of years ago moved to the city and worked in the dining room as a waitress, where she was arranged by Arkady Semyonovich. Not bad earned and the chief praised. He says that he no longer lives with his knave Vladislav Sergeevich, because he found out that he was paying alimony and realized that he could not materially provide them.
Alka is so bored by her native village that she wants to experience all the charms at once: to bathe in the bathhouse, and to go along the road, near the bird-cherry bush near which she used to wait with her father for the tired mother returning

from the bakery; and in the meadow under the mountain, where the haymaker is poured all morning; and by the river…
Alka walks and meets her acquaintances: not immediately recognizing her neighbor, Peku Kamennogo by car, which he had long dreamed of; plays his teacher Evlampia Nikiforovna, enters the almost completed new club, where she likes everything. She meets her friends, helps them mow the hay, and then cheerfully and with squeals bathe in the river. Alka is very happy to return to her native village atmosphere.
At home at dinner, Alya discusses with the old women gathered in her aunt’s house everything: pensions, icons, berries, the use of living water… Then Anisya goes for berries. In the forest, the special smell of leaves reminds Alya of the deceased mother and casts sadness… But going out onto the road, he meets Peku again and, having talked with him, is distracted from the memories of his mother. Returning from a walk, Alka meets the old woman Khristoforovna. She tells that the path to the river was renamed Paladin’s path in honor of Alina’s mother. She was still
a toiler worker – no one has walked this path so much as she. Having reached the bakery where her mother worked, Alka again becomes sad, because this bakery took her mother to the grave. She stands and waits for her mother to appear in the window. But this does not happen, and Alya goes to the local store.
Stores were the girl’s passion. There she meets Seryozha, on which she sighed not so long ago. He is drunk. After chatting with the saleswoman Nastya, Alya goes on. Seryozha does not come out of his head. She remembers how she was good to him, and compares to what is happening to him now.
Then the main character goes to old girlfriend Lidke. In her house, much has changed, and she herself is very much prettier. Lidka meets her friend very warmly, and they now and then discuss the growing belly of Lida. She is pregnant just from Mitya, who has been caring for Aley for a long time.
Returning from the guests, Alya and her aunt Anisya talk about men. The aunt is asking Al about her boyfriends. Then they again discuss Mitya Ermolova. Alka does not stand and cries, leaning on her shoulder to Anisie: “Aunt, aunt, why no one likes me?” Alka believes in love and envies Lidke with Mitya. Aunt tries to calm her niece, she says how beautiful she is and that everything will turn out for her, then she quietly puts Alya to sleep.
The next day, Alka wakes up from what she thinks her mother is calling her. No one lives in Ali’s home, and therefore Alya lives with her aunt. Barefoot, she runs to the mother’s house. He runs into the courtyard, where everything is done, as the mother wanted, runs through the gate, through the passage, runs into the room where the bed on which her mother died stood and whispered: “Mom, I have come.” But except the cat Busika in the house no one responds. The cat did not leave home even after the death of his mother, and Alya reproached herself for having changed her mother to the city. “Mom, Mom, I’ll stay… Do you hear? I’m not going anywhere else… Ala whispered… Tears streamed down her cheeks.”
Alya is determined to stay in the village. The first thing she tidies up in the parents’ house. How, after all, it’s wonderful to heat the stove in the morning, wash the floors yourself, to make the samovar itself warm. And what a pleasure to walk barefoot on a clean, washed house! Alya thinks who to work with and decides what will be the milkmaid. She does not understand why she went to a crowded city to serve drunken uncles when there are so many charms of life at home. Manya and Anisya were against Ali’s decision, but still the girl goes to town for things.
Arriving in an apartment where they spent 2 years living with a friend, the first thing Alya talks with Tomka. She’s going to a party and calling Alka with her, but she refuses. Learning that Alya is going to go back to the village, Tomka persuades her to stay and try to work with her stewardess of the international class. All the determination of Alka is lost, because she dreamed of such work. It remains.
Two years later, Anisya received a letter from Ali in the fall. Brief, without explanation: sell the house, send money. Anisya in her whole life neither Alke, nor her mother did not contradict, but then rested, did not flinch. Mother and father spent all their lives in this house so much effort… Later Anisya went blind. She is still waiting for the door to open and a carefree, smiling Alka will appear on the threshold.
“Auntie, and I did find a buyer.” Come on, pack it on the table, wash it…
