Very surely someone said that the book never betrays and leaves you. The book is both a wise teacher and a sincere friend. In the books we find answers to many questions that worry us about in life. Many more beautiful and lofty words can be said about books and their role in human life.
I want to talk about my favorite book. This is a novel by P. Zagrebelny of Roksolana. Thanks to this book, I learned a lot of interesting from the history of the Ukrainian people. The novel told me about a wise woman, about sincere and eternal feelings, about maternal love, but he also told about meanness and betrayal. It was very interesting for me to get acquainted with the customs of warlike foreigners who for centuries fought against Ukraine and were its sworn enemies. The biggest achievement of the novel is, in my opinion, the image of Roksolana.

himself. And then her life turned into an eternal inner struggle. The Sultan’s wife, the mother of his children, she changed her faith, but she did not want to change her moral principles, which she absorbed with her mother’s milk. And the children tried to inject them. Wise and far-sighted was Roksolana in everything: in relations with her husband, the ruler of the great Ottoman Empire, in affairs of the inner-city and international. She surprised strangers not only with her extraordinary beauty, but also with an understanding of the subtleties of politics. Roksolana was able for a time to change the behavior of the sultan himself: beneath its beneficial influence, his militancy diminished. But most importantly, what did Roksolana achieve: the sultan changed his attitude to Ukraine for the better. After all, it was this country that the Turks tried to conquer, which they ruthlessly plundered, ruined, its people were captured, – this country presented the Sultan Roksolana. This woman became the only love of his life, a faithful and devoted wife, a friend, a counselor, and not just a harem’s wife.
On the possibility of such a relationship between a man and a woman, the Sultan, a man from the world with a different way of life and other moral principles, did not even suspect. And this man admitted that the moral values professed by his Ukrainian wife are more human. But there is something that elevates Roksolana most: it is her love for Ukraine, her decision to sacrifice her personal life in order to ease the fate of her native land, which her soul has longed for.
It is said that when a person dies, his soul separates and flies to heaven. Probably, the soul of Roksolana flew to Ukraine, to her native village. For her flight there were no obstacles.
My favorite book is written on the basis of real historical facts. Of course, the writer thought out the details, wrapping the story in an artistic form. But he kept the main thing: it is the hero’s unbending spirit, her faithfulness to the Motherland.
