From the history of the study of the Pacific Ocean


The beginning of the exploration by the Europeans of the Pacific Ocean was laid by Fernand Magellan, who carried out in 1519-1521. trip around the world. The period from the end of the XIX century. is characterized by comprehensive ocean studies conducted from sea-going ships and coastal stations. In the second half of XX century. Interesting and versatile research in the Pacific Ocean was conducted by the Norwegian Tour Heyerdahl and the Frenchman Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Specially created international organizations are studying the nature of the Pacific Ocean at the present stage.
