Composition “Pancake week”

Maslenitsa is one of the long-awaited and joyful holidays of spring. It is very much expected and loved not only by children, but also by adults. First, it symbolizes the arrival of spring and the retreat of winter, and secondly, its idle for a whole week.

Why does it have such a name. There are several versions. Some say that it is on this holiday that all people try to appease the spring, so to speak, to cajole it, that’s where Maslenitsa went from here. And some say that after the baptism and adoption of Christianity it began to celebrate a week before Lent. It was then impossible to eat meat, but dairy products can. And people began to bake pancakes and abundantly watered them with oil. Here is the second origin of Maslenitsa.

The celebration of Maslenitsa always depends on Easter. The carnival ends Forgiven Sunday. Only old people know how to calculate these dates, and I always buy a calendar and I know when, what a holiday.

At Shrovetide, they first baked

pancakes with water and flour, and in time they began to bake yellow, sweet round pancakes. They resembled the sun and everyone said, if you eat a pancake at the Shrovetide, you can think that you ate a piece of the sun, its warmth, generosity and tenderness. But other traditions took part in attracting the sun and spring. People harnessed the horses in a sleigh and rode around the village several times, symbolizing the circles around them. The circle and the painted wheel are also connected with the circle. People all believed that thanks to the circle, the sun would bring warmth and comfort. Until now, there is very little of these rituals left, but one and now everyone is spending. They make a large scarecrow from straw, which symbolizes the winter and have fun with it all week, and on the last day it is burned. Thus, winter completely leaves the land and spring comes into its possession.

I really love to have fun on Shrovetide, because they say who is the most fun, he will be happy all year. I think that we are all happy, because we are able to have fun.
