Christian parable about the workers in the vineyard

The owner of the house went out early in the morning to hire workers into his vineyard. And, having agreed with the workers on a denarius a day, he sent them to his vineyard.

After about three o’clock, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and said to them: “Go and you to my vineyard, and that will follow, I will give you.” They went.

Again, going out about the sixth and ninth hour, did the same.

Finally, going out about the eleventh hour, he found others standing idle, and said to them: “Why are you standing here all day idle?” They say to him: “Nobody hired us.” He says to them: “Go and you to my vineyard, and that what follows will be, receive.”

When evening came, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward: “Call the workers and give them a fee, starting from the last to the first.”

And those who arrived about the eleventh hour received a penny. Those who arrived were the first to think that they would get more, but they also received a penny. And having received, they began to murmur against the owner of the house and said: “These last worked one hour, and you equalized them with us, who suffered the burden of the day and the heat.” He answered one of them in reply: “Friend, I do not offend you, have not you agreed with me for a penny? Take your own and go, I want to give this one the same as you.” Do not I have the power to do, What do I want, or is your eye jealous of me being kind? “
