(1919 – 1986)

Slutsky Boris Abramovich (1919 – 1986), the poet. Born May 7 in the city of Slavyansk (Donbass) in the family of an employee. He studied in Kharkov. Since 1937 he moved to Moscow, where he first studied law, then entered the Literary Institute. M. Gorky, who graduated in 1941. The first poems were published in the same year.
The Patriotic War changed all plans of the future poet. Goes to the front, leaving poetry for a long time. He starts a war as a soldier, after a serious wound, left at the front, becomes a political instructor. Again began to be printed since 1953 in various publications.
In 1957 he published a book of poems – “Memory”, followed by other collections: “Time” (1959), “Today and yesterday” (1961), “Work” (1964), “Modern stories” (1969), “Yearly arrow” (1971), “
He translated Polish, German, English poetry. February 22, 1986 B. Slutsky died in Tula.
