She acted as a member of the Professional Golf Association, as well as in the Women’s Association of Professional Golf.
Wie started to play golf at the age of 4 years. An important fact of the biography can be considered that by the age of 10 she had become the youngest golfer for the whole time playing at the amateur golf championship in the USA. In 2003 Michelle won the women’s amateur championship, also becoming the youngest winner. In the same year, at the age of 13, the athlete first took part in LPGA competitions.
Known for the same growth, the sportswoman often competed in men’s competitions, including the open championship of Sony, and also Hawaii Pearl in 2003. Thanks to the impressive performances shown there, Michel Vieh firmly settled somewhere in the middle of the ranking of professional golfers. By the time the athlete was 14, she showed good results in LPGA competitions, including twice finishing in the top ten, four times in the top twenty.
In June 2005, while still an amateur, Michelle at LPGA competitions showed the second result after Annika Sorenstam. When the athlete began to professionally golf, her bank account was already multi-million thanks to contracts with “Nike” and “Sony”. By this time Michelle was compared to Tiger Woods not only for her talent, but also for her ability to attract the public.
In 2006 she participated mainly in competitions in PGA. Sadly, the athlete did not show the best results. Despite the poor performance, Wi hopes to continue to perform in men’s competitions.
Additional information: Michelle became the youngest girl to join the LPGA. Before her, this title belonged to Natalie Gulbis. Sometimes the name Michelle is written as “Wee”.
