Biography of Franco Colombo


Franco Colombo is a bodybuilder, winner of “Mr. Olympia” in 1976, 1981.

Franco was born on August 7, 1941 in Ollolai on the island of Sardinia in Italy. He began his sports career in his biography Franco Colombo as a boxer. Became the champion of Italy, markedly increased the force of impact. And when he almost killed the enemy, he decided to leave the box. Then he became known as one of the best bodybuilders.

Colombo has long been a friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger, whom he met in Munich in 1965. In 1966, Franco took part in the competition “Mr. Europe”, becoming the fourth. And already in 1969 he won in this competition in the middle category. In the same 1969 biography of Franco Colombo was marked by several significant victories. He won three prizes at the contest “Mr. Universe”. In 1970, Franco won the competition “Mr. Europe”, as well as “Mr. Universe”.

Performing in the lightweight category, in 1974, and then in 1975, Franco became the first in the competition, “Mr. Olympia.” But the absolute winner of “Mr. Olympia” was in 1976. Reaching his then repeated in 1981. During his entire career Colombo also earned many other titles. For example, he became the champion of Italy, Germany and Europe in powerlifting, and in 1977 at the competitions “The strongest man in the world” became the 5th, although he went to win, but injured his leg.
