Dmitri Shostakovich is a Russian composer, teacher.

He was born on September 12, 1906 in St. Petersburg. Shostakovich’s house was always filled with music: relatives, friends constantly played various composers.

After entering the commercial gymnasium in 1915, Dmitry Shostakovich was seriously interested in music. The first teacher in the biography of Dmitry Dmitrievich Shostakovich was his mother. Then the future composer studied at the music school, the Petrograd Conservatory. On this path of creativity Shostakovich was written the first great work.

The fifth symphony was especially liked by the Soviet authorities. Since 1937, the composer began to teach at the Leningrad Conservatory, two years later becoming a professor.

The sixth symphony of Shostakovich was written in 1939. The next year the author begins work on the Seventh Symphony. For Shostakovich, the blockade symphony was of particular importance. Sounded in 1942, it was designed to dilute the military life, bring it patriotism, pride in the country, the desire to fight.

Moved to Moscow in 1943, Shostakovich begins teaching at the Conservatory. After 1946, the great composer was accused by the Soviet authorities, expelled from the conservatory. Further events in the biography of Dmitry Dmitrievich Shostakovich became participation in the jury in the Bach Competition. During this period, the work of D. Shostakovich blossoms: he wrote a lot of concerts, operettas, symphonies.

After compulsory entry into the party, the works of the composer are filled with sadness, pain, anguish. This tragic mood gradually turns into a thoughtful one in subsequent works of the 1970s. Shostakovich died on August 9, 1975.
